Dr.Klassen feeling “mixed bag” of emotions with Ontario set to enter Step Three

Huron Perth’s Medical Officer of Health says she’s feeling a mixed bag of emotions with Ontario set to enter Step Three of it’s reopening plan.

Dr. Miriam Klassen says she’s excited that COVID-19 cases continue to come down across the province but she’s concerned entering Step Three on Friday will lead to some people taking it as a signal that they can stop following public health measures.

Under Step Three. outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people will be allowed and indoor social gatherings will increase to up to 25 people.

Klassen says it’s important we keep following the steps that got us to this point.

“It’s still really important you have to stay home when you’re sick, we’re hearing that sometimes people are saying “oh these symptoms are mild” and going out, it’s really important that we continue to respect symptoms.”

Dr.Klassen adds there are still around thirty thousand people in Huron Perth who are eligible to get their vaccine but who haven’t had their first shot.
