There’s some good news on the jobs front in our area.
The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula region saw a net gain of 2,200 jobs between December and January.
3,100 full-time positions were added while 900 part-time were lost. Most of the jobs came in the service and retail sectors.
The board says the region started the year with an employment rate of 56.8% and a participation rate of 60.2%. That’s compared to the province-wide rates of 60.5% and 64.6% respectively.
