The Perth District Health Unit says a skunk has tested positive for rabies. The animal was found in Ellice Ward.
This is the second animal in the past six months to test positive for the disease. A cow, also found in Ellice Ward, tested positive back in December.
The Ministry of Natural Resources has restarted its rabies vaccine program and dropped baits in a small area around these cases earlier this month.
The PDHU says you can help protect your family by keeping your pets up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. You can find more information about rabies prevention at the PDHU’s website.
