A big issue has come up with the Blanshard Street Bridge repair project in Mitchell. The Ministry of Transportation says the work has to be done by December 31st.
According to a report in the Mitchell Advocate councillors were presented with that new deadline at last week’s meeting. The MTO recently approved $992,821 in funding for the project through the Connecting Links program.
The project is still in its infancy and according to the report West Perth staff believes it would be impossible to get the repairs done by the end of this year. They will be asking the MTO for an extension to the December 31st deadline.
