Violet Jean Sophia McKenzie, age 82, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on May 29, 2016. Violet was born in East Zorra Township (Oxford County) August 25, 1933, daughter of the late William and Edith (Voigt) Mogk. Beloved wife of James Crawford McKenzie who predeceased her in 2007. Loving mother of Jim (Patsy), Don (Cathy), Paul (Suzanne) and Susan Iredale (Tim). Grandmother of Jason and Alison McKenzie, Matthew (Kathlyn), Scott (Jennifer Walker), Stephanie Bonnick (Stewart), Emily McKenzie, Erin and Jordan Iredale. Great grandmother of Ayden, Greyson, Zoe and Elyse. Dear sister of Doris Fryfogel. Also survived by brothers-in-law Glenn McKenzie (Margaret), Charles McKenzie (Chris), Ken McKenzie (Ann) and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Violet was predeceased by a son Richard in 1955, sister Kathleen Mogk in infancy, brother Wilfred Mogk and wife Helen, sister Helen Seyler and husband Oliver, brother-in-law Willis Fryfogel and sister-in-law Lorna Kirk and husband Robert. Violet’s passion was her family. She loved knitting, quilting, crafting, cooking, canning, anything to bring her family together. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, June 2, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeff Laustsen will officiate. Interment at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.
