Stratford’s Deputy Fire Chief is retiring.

Michael Gornyiczki has been part of the Stratford Fire Department for more than 29 years.

He spent 14 years as a firefighter before becoming Fire Inspector and then finally Deputy Chief in 2005. He also served as Acting Chief in 2015.

Gornyiczki was awarded the Federal Fire Services Exemplary Services Medal in 2007 and the Ontario Provincial Fire Long Services Medal in 2012.
