Public board releases climate survey results

A new survey shows students in local schools are struggling with building relationships.
The Avon Maitland District School Board has released the results from its parent/caregiver climate survey that was done back in the fall.
AMDSB Director of Education Dr.Lisa Walsh says the survey is mandated by the province to be done every two years to gather feedback on how parents and staff are feeling about their schools and she says it showed there is still some bullying going on.
On the positive side, Walsh says it also showed that staff feel like they belong and contribute to their schools.
“There’s a lot of places that this information will be shared and used, and all in the name of improvement and better understanding.”
Walsh adds they will look at when they give out the survey, with only around thirty per cent of parents and staff taking part.
