Firefighters say squirrel believed to have caused fire in downtown Stratford

A squirrel is believed to have caused last week’s fire in downtown Stratford.
Stratford Fire Chief Neil Anderson says an investigation found that a squirrel had interacted with one of the electrical lines in the attic of 110 Ontario Street.
He says they suspect the squirrel chewed the live wire which sparked the blaze.
Anderson adds that the difficulty in getting to the fire in the attic insulation and in the wall resulted in considerable water damage to the apartments and ice cream store.
