An upcoming summit hopes to equip students, staff, and families with ethical reasoning and critical thinking skills required to navigate a landscape increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence.
Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board has announced the two-day secondary school AI Summit, scheduled for April 9 and 10.
The school board said the summit moves beyond basic AI literacy toward meaningful, human-centred integration.
Objectives include ethical navigation which the board said can include centring AI strategy around human dignity and Catholic values to ensure students use technology for the common good as well as relationship building to ensure AI tools are used to streamline workflows to repurpose time for deeper human interactions within school communities.
The board said as AI reshapes the educational landscape, parents and caregivers are facing new challenges in raising tech-savvy children who remain rooted in their faith.
Global technology strategist Giancarlo Brotto will address students at both of the board’s Catholic high schools and is the featured speaker for an evening session for parents and guardians scheduled for April 9 at St. Michael CSS.
The board said it will provide practical strategies for supporting children in an AI-driven world while maintaining mental well-being and digital balance.
To register for the parent evening reach out to your child’s school or email directorsoffice@huronperthcatholic.ca.
