Get rid of hazardous waste items this weekend in St. Marys

If you have some old batteries, paint cans or an unused and aging propane tank sitting around, this weekend is your chance to get rid of it.

St. Marys is hosting a hazardous and special product disposal day on Saturday at the municipal operations centre from 8 a.m. until noon.

St. Marys and Perth South residents can dispose of the following items: Acids, aerosol cans, antifreeze; bases, batteries, bleach; compact fluorescent light bulbs, fluorescent tubes; fertilizers, fuels, garden and pool chemicals; household cleaners, motor oil, paints, pesticides; propane tanks/cylinders, solvents, stains and varsol.

The town says materials must be sealed and in original containers with labels and they remind the public that the hazardous waste depot at the St. Marys Landfill has now been closed.

The municipal operations centre is located at 408 James St. South.
