More than 100 commercial motor vehicle charges laid by West Region OPP

West Region OPP laid 143 charges in one week across multiple detachments.

In Perth County, there were just two: A defective equipment charge and speeding charge.

Police said Operation Safe Driver ran from July 12-18. During the campaign, officers targeted the leading factors in commercial motor vehicle collisions including speeding, improper lane changes and following too closely.

The goal was to improve traffic safety for commercial motor and passenger vehicle drivers.

Traffic Inspector and Traffic Safety and Marine Manager for West Region Mike McConnell said it’s every driver’s responsibility to share the roads safely.
