Lester Charles Schwantz, age 86 of 245 Britannia Street, Stratford passed away at home on May 13, 2016. He was born in Woodstock, April 30, 1930, the only child of Joseph and Annie Schwantz. Lester was employed at Perth Motors/Gary Stockie Motors for many years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stratford where he was the former chairman of Trustees for several years. Lester was a member of the Lively Lutherans. Beloved husband of Doreen (Tew) whom he married on November 8, 1958. Loving father of Dwayne Schwantz (Brenda) and Robert Schwantz (Sharon). He will be missed by grandsons Justin and Adam Schwantz and granddaughters Brittany Schwantz (Scott) and Jennifer Schwantz (Geoff). Also survived by sisters-in-law Margaret Kelly, Barbara Arthur (Ken), brother-in-law Donald Tew (Rhoda) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved aunt Marie Neeb, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Herbert and Lillian Tew, brother-in-law Ronald Kelly, sister-in-law Arlene Tew, nephew Murry Arthur and great granddaughter Sophie Lee Schwantz Rustin. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street Stratford on Tuesday, May 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 115 Cambria Street, Stratford on Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 am. Rev. Timothy Teuscher will officiate. Interment at Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stratford or to the Canadian Cancer Society through the funeral home.
