Roulston, Violet

Violet (Vi) Patricia Roulston, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital at the age of 86.  Born in Wingham, she was the daughter of the late James Bowman and the former Lena Williams. Dear wife of the late William Roulston (1992). Beloved mother of Patricia Brooks, William Roulston (Kathie), Doug Roulston (Kim), Deb Taylor, David Roulston (Val), Vicki Siertsema, Sandra Koller (Mike). She will be fondly remembered by a special family friend Carol Gaetz.  Vi was also survived by her sisters-in-law Linda and Jackie Bowman.  She was a nurturing grandmother to Chris Brooks (Jeannine), Kim Campbell (Steve), Lori Mork (Lindsey), Mike Roulston, Adam Roulston, Jeremy Taylor, Scott Taylor , Mitch Roulston (Brooke), Kyle Roulston (Ali), Jordan Roulston, Tara Rossouw (Koos), Ryan Green (Jayne), Luke Zehr, Kelsea Schumm (Matt),  Ainsleigh Siertsema, Stephanie Hoff, Lindsay Hoff.   She was a loving great-grandmother to her 15 great-grandchildren.  Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by sisters Esther Ruby and Mary Bowman and her brothers James and William Bowman. Violet was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law Jack Roulston and wife Pat, Lois Lauzon and husband Ron Lauzon, Eugene Roulston in infancy, son-in-law Don Brooks and her great-grandson Hayden Campbell.  She was employed at Loblaws for 35 years. Violet was involved with several community organizations as well as the Business and Professional Women’s Group and was an active volunteer at the Stratford General Hospital. Vi was a member of the St. Stephens A.C.W.L.  In 1973, Violet was honoured by being named Volunteer of the Year.  Friends and Relatives may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford, on Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. till noon. If you are unable to attend the visitation at the funeral home prior to 12 p.m. please join the family for a service to celebrate Violet’s life that will be held following the visitation on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Stephens Anglican Church, 133 Home Street, Stratford. Rev. Laura Lightfoot will officiate.  As per Violet’s request, cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Stephens Church Building Fund, the Sunshine Foundation or Stratford General Hospital through the funeral home by calling 519-271-5062.
