Stratford City Council has gotten a look at the updated Highway 7/8 expansion planning study. Representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Aecom presented it at last night’s meeting.
The presentation included adjustments that have been made since the recommended plan came out in 2013. Those adjustments include a southerly bypass of Shakespeare and upgrading Patterson Street in Stratford to provide a direct connection from Monteith Avenue to St. Vincent Street.
At this point though there’s no timeline or funding for the project as its waiting on environmental clearance. Projections show that Highway 7/8 between Stratford and New Hamburg won’t be able to handle expected traffic volume by 2031.
