Health Unit Sharing Tips on How to Protect Yourself from Ticks and Lyme Disease

The Perth District Health Unit is sharing tips on how to protect yourself, your children and your pets from Lyme disease.

The disease is carried by blacklegged ticks, which have been making their way into Ontario mostly carried in my migrating birds and other animals.

Public Health Inspector Stephanie Carlisle says despite the many myths of how to remove a tick, it’s fairly straight forward.

She says the region has been fortunate not to see many ticks, but it is on the health unit’s radar.
