Local Producers Recognized by Province for Agri-Food Awards

Local agri-food producers in Perth and Wellington counties have been recognized by the province for innovation in the sector.

St. Marys-based Perth County Ingredients houses Canada’s only egg-drying facility, with a modern system in place which works faster and more efficiently than other dryers.

Cambridge MPP Kathryn McGarry helped to present the awards and recognize local producers in Perth and Wellington counties.

She says the award is all about supporting innovation in the province’s agri-food sector, which makes up a critical economic component to southwestern Ontario.

Wellington County’s Bioenterprise Corporation, CanWest DHI, Green Table Food, Jewels Under the Kilt and Thatcher Farms were also recognized for the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.

Perth County Ingredients also recently announced it will be taking a look at expanding its powdered-product base possibly taking on the whey power market.
