Ottawa Commits $20 Million to Proposed Tom Patterson Theatre Redevelopment

Minister of Canadian Heritage Melanie Joly has announced the federal government is investing $20 million towards the proposed redevelopment of the Tom Patterson Theatre in Stratford.

The province has already committed $20 million to the project, with a spending deadline set for March of 2018.

Joly says this investment has been in the works since January of 2016.

She says the theatre will have an impact economically, regionally and on an international scale.

With the provincial and federal components, it leaves just over $28 million to be fundraised by the Festival.

The proposed redevelopment would see a new 75,000 square foot facility tooled for multiple uses on the current site.
