Stratford Fire Inspector Concerned Over Lack of Smoke Alarm Awareness

The City of Stratford’s Fire Department is sounding off over concerns residents may not have proper smoke alarms or C-O detectors in their homes.

Fire Inspector Rod MacDonald says there have already been a number of fire fatalities in 2018.

MacDonald says it’s the law to have both installed in your home, including a smoke alarm on each floor and outside of bedrooms.

Other fire departments have been warning residents about keeping smoke alarms stocked with batteries and the danger carbon monoxide presents, especially in rural areas where many homes are heated by natural gas or wood burning sources.
