Equal Pay Day is aiming to create a level playing field when it comes to how much women and men earn for doing the same job.
In both Canada and the United States, events were held to mark the day on Tuesday.
Organizers say that In Ontario, data from the latest census shows women in the province face a 29.3 per cent pay gap compared to their male coworkers.
