Two major bridge repair projects on the horizon in Stratford

A couple of major bridge repair projects in Stratford set for the next few months might impact the way you get around the city.

At their meeting Monday night, Stratford City Council gave the green light in awarding the rehabilitation projects for both the Romeo Street Bridge and the St. Vincent Street Bridge.

The contract for the work on the Romeo Street Bridge, including barrier and sidewalk replacements and new concrete girders, was awarded to National Structures Inc. and will work out to cost the city over $970-thousand.

The work is scheduled to begin May 7th with Romeo Street closed to only local traffic from Devon Street to Delamere Avenue with detours in place over the 65 days it’s scheduled to last.

Work on the St. Vincent Street Bridge is scheduled to begin April 23rd with the contract awarded to Engineered Concrete Limited and it will work out to cost the city over $579-thousand.

Over the 65 days the work is scheduled to last, St. Vincent Street South will be closed from Cambria Street to Douglas Street with a detour in place.
