FIFA World Cup fever taking over Stratford

Soccer action is taking over everywhere it appears.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is underway and while it may be taking place in Russia there are plenty of soccer enthusiasts across the country, including right here in Stratford, packing bars and restaurants to cheer on their favorite country.

Some bars in Ontario are even selling beer at 9 a.m. so that fans can enjoy a cold one and watch the game live despite the time difference.

Julia Allum, Media and Programming Manager at Bard’s on Market Square and The Hub, says large groups have been coming in to watch the games.

“Up in The Hub is the go to spot for the sport, we have 17 flat screen televisions as well as a large 120 inch drop down projector style TV.”

The World Cup doesn’t wrap up until July 15th.
