Dorothy M. Bald, age 85, formerly of R.R. # 1 Sebringville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at Greenwood Court on Monday, September 17, 2018. Dorothy was born in Ellice Township at the Schineman Family Farm, daughter of the late Arthur and Hada (Nowack) Schineman. Predeceased by her loving husband Earl Bald, October 27, 2015. Loving mother of Robin Bald and wife Maria Van Straaten. Special grandmother of Corbin and Abby. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Richard Schineman (2006) and her in-laws Arthur and Mabel Bald. She was a member 2nd St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wartburg.  Dorothy attended The Collegian, today known as Stratford Central Secondary School. Dorothy received her teaching certificate from Stratford Normal School in 1953. She went on to her first teaching position at SS No.9 Logan in a one room school house from 1954-1958. From there she taught at elementary schools in Deep River and Brampton Ont. from 1959-1970. During her younger years, Dorothy traveled to Western Canada, visiting the Rocky Mountains, Columbia Icefield and Vancouver. She spent a summer in Banff, Alberta attending Banff School of Fine Arts and attended Expo 67 in Montreal, Quebec. Dorothy returned to Ellice Township to start a new chapter in her life marrying Earl on October 23, 1971. Together they built a new house in 1973 and farmed for 40 plus years. In her later life, Dorothy resided at Ritz Lutheran Villa and Greenwood Court where she spent her final days. The family would like to thank the Staff and Dr. Mark Powell for all the care and support Dorothy received.  A memorial service for Dorothy will take place on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. Rev. William Kramer will officiate. Interment in Avondale Cemetery at a later date.
