Two Stratford Police Officers recovering from minor injuries after chase in St.Marys

Two Stratford Police officers are recovering from minor injuries after a foot chase in St.Marys.

Just after 4 a.m. Sunday, police say they were called about a disturbance in the parking lot of the Tim Horton’s in downtown St.Marys between a male and a female.

They say officers went to the scene and found the two in a vehicle and police say they recognized both people with the male known to have a court-imposed condition not to communicate with the female.

An officer tried to arrest the man when police say he resisted and fled on foot with police chasing the man as he climbed onto the roof of a residence on Queen Street.

They say the man continued to flee from police as he climbed over several other rooftops before gaining entry into the attic of an upper apartment.

The officers say they found the man in the attic and he was arrested and he faces charges including Mischief Under $5-thousand and Resisting Arrest.

Two officers suffered minor injuries during the chase, one to his foot and the other to his upper body, both were treated for the injuries at the hospital and released.
