Stratford driver charged with not stopping for school crossing guard

Police say failing to stop for a school crossing guard has lead to an 82-year-old Stratford man being charged.

Just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, police say they got a complaint about a vehicle not stopping for a crossing guard’s stop sign on Mornington Street.

They say an older model F150 was seen traveling southbound on Mornington Street when the crossing guard was on the road with her stop sign up and children crossing.

Police say the vehicle slowed down as it approached the school crosswalk but continued through without stopping and drove directly past the crossing guard.

The man has been charged with Fail to Obey School Crossing Sign under the Highway Traffic Act.
