Stratford Police searching for people involved in hit and run collision

Stratford Police are searching for those involved in a hit and run collision.

They say it happened around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday near the rail crossing on O’Loane Avenue.

According to police, a grey/silver 2019 four-door, Kia Optima was seen dangerously passing vehicles southbound on O’Loane Avenue approaching the railroad crossing when it was confronted by a northbound older model Oldsmobile.

Police say both drivers acted quickly to avoid a head-on collision however the vehicles did strike each other’s passenger sides with the Kia losing control, leaving the road, and becoming stuck in the snow straddling the sidewalk on the east side of O’Loane Avenue at the rail crossing.

The people in the Kia and a passerby physically pushed the vehicle free and, once it was free, the people in the vehicle left before police arrived.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call them.
