Five people face drug related charges after join investigation involving Stratford Police

Five people from Kitchener face drug-related charges after a joint investigation involving Stratford Police.

On Thursday, Stratford Police and the Ontario Provincial Police concluded a joint investigation in Kitchener with the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police.

They say the investigation was regarding drug trafficking throughout our area and it began late last year.

During the day on Thursday, police say search warrants were executed at five different residences throughout Kitchener which resulted in the arrest of five people.

Four females, aged 26, 32, 39 and 54, along with a 32-year-old male, were arrested and appeared in court on Friday to answer to several drug charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

They also face charges including Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous purpose and Tampering with a Serial Number on a Firearm.

Items were also seized from the homes including digital scales, a bulletproof vest, a prohibited firearm with magazine and ammunition and quantities of suspected drugs including fentanyl, cocaine, meth, and heroin.

Police say the approximate value of the seized drugs is $157 thousand.
