Burlington man pleads guilty in connection to fatal collision that killed Stratford teen

A Burlington man has pleaded guilty to impaired driving charges in connection to a fatal collision that caused the death of a Stratford teen.

The Stratford Beacon Herald reports that 19-year-old Favian Lee-Allert pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm in court on Tuesday.

An agreed-upon statement of facts read in court says that Lee-Allert was driving west at a high rate of speed on Perth Road 113 just after 3 a.m. on October 28th last year when the vehicle failed to negotiate a right turn onto Erie Street, causing the vehicle to travel across Erie Street and roll onto its roof in the opposite ditch.

Nineteen-year-old Eric Millar from Stratford was in the back seat of the vehicle and he was brought to the hospital where he later died.

A female passenger in the vehicle and Lee-Allert suffered serious injuries in the collision.

Lee-Allert was ordered to provide two breath samples to police after police say they smelled what they suspected to be alcohol on his breath while he was being transported to the hospital.

Initially, police say the breath samples registered just under the legal limit but the samples were given to a forensics lab for testing and they came back over the limit.

Lee-Allert will be sentenced on June 14th with the Crown to present victim-impact statements before sentencing.
