The community is coming together to honour the woman killed in a hit and run in the Walmart parking lot.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to collect donations which will go towards purchasing a bench and plaque which will serve as a memorial for Evelyn Sophia Harris.
The 62-year-old Stratford resident was killed after being struck by a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Mother’s Day.
The account has been set up by Harris’s niece with the plans to put the bench in a small park or near a playground.
Organizers say the city’s memorial bench program costs $2,700 for the bench and plaque.
As of early Tuesday afternoon, $1,415 has been raised.
