Six drivers in Perth County charged with racing over the long weekend

It appears that many aren’t getting the message when it comes to stunt driving.

Over the Victoria Day long weekend, Perth County OPP says six drivers were located in the area with stunt driving occurring when a vehicle is recorded going 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.

Police say all of the drivers were charged with racing and they all had their driver’s licenses suspended.

They will all appear in court in the future with the vehicles towed and impounded.

Perth County OPP Constable Barry Cookson says excessive speeding puts everyone on the road at risk.

“This past weekend a lot of farmers were on the road and when you’re travelling that fast and the farm equipment is travelling at a much slower rate of speed the equipment can come up on you pretty quick.”

Police say “irresponsible driving behaviour will not be tolerated and has no place on the road.”
