More details released about counterfeit American money passed in Stratford

More details are coming out about counterfeit American money circulating in the area.

Stratford Police got complaints on Monday from several stores in the east end of the city, and in Festival Marketplace Shopping Centre, who took the fake cash.

Then on Tuesday, police say they got another complaint about the same suspect trying to pay with the money at another east end store.

That transaction was stopped by staff and the man took off before police got there.

He’s believed to be the same suspect behind similar incidents in Perth County.

He’s described as white and in his early 20’s, 6 feet tall with a thin build.

He has shaggy dirty blonde hair and was seen wearing a baggy grey coat in each of the incidents.

The male was observed leaving the store on November 19th in a grey Mazda hatchback in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call Stratford Police or Crime Stoppers.
