Stratford City Council approves 2020 budget

Your taxes are set to go up almost four per cent next year in Stratford.

City Council has passed the 2020 budget and it includes a 3.97 per cent tax increase.

That means someone living in an average assessed single-detached home will pay an extra $121 in taxes while those that live in a semi-detached home will pay an additional $64.95.

Council was looking at an increase of around six per cent when the budget process began but they were able to lower it by doing things like reducing the Stratford Police Services budget by $150-thousand and putting off buying a utility vehicle for the Stratford Fire Department.
