Truck driver credited with keeping vehicle fire from getting out of hand

A fast acting truck driver is being credited with making sure a vehicle fire didn’t get out of hand.

West Perth and Perth East Fire Prevention Officer James Marshall tells MyStratfordNow.com that a truck was heading southbound into Mitchell on St. George Street around 8:30 Wednesday morning.

The driver of a truck behind him noticed the vehicle’s rear end was smoking and called him over the radio to let him know.

Both trucks pulled over and the fire was put out by the driver using a fire extinguisher.

Marshall says first responders were called to the scene and adds things could have been much worse if the driver hadn’t noticed the smoke and acted so quickly.
