Rotary Club of Stratford launches Mask Project

Promoting the wearing of masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
That’s what the Rotary Club of Stratford says is the goal for its Mask Project which also involves promoting COVID-19 hygiene practices, fundraising to support the club and  providing free or subsidized reusable, eco-friendly masks, and other PPE to disadvantaged persons, persons or groups in need, and community charities.
The project is being led by Dr.Doug Thompson, a long-time Rotary member who worked as a family physician in Stratford for 40 years and who is now the Medical Director for Spruce Lodge.
He says the main idea of the project is very simple.
“We know that wearing a mask makes a difference as far as protecting other people around you and if everybody wears a mask it protects you as well.”
Dr. Thompson says they’d like to see Huron Perth Public Health make the wearing of masks in large retail settings mandatory and the two sides are working in cooperation and coordination on the issue.
