Tuckwood, Priscilla

Priscilla Josephine Tuckwood, born in Stratford on March 24, 1919, died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 16, 2014. Predeceased by her husband Albert (Abb), whom she dearly missed, on October 3, 1987. She is survived by her daughters Valerie (Wayne) Dargus, Newmarket and Teresa Tuckwood, Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Nicholas (Ashley) Dargus, Toronto, Jonathan (Lindsay) Dargus, Petawawa, Christopher Tuckwood, Toronto, and Courtney Amlinger, Calgary, great-grandchildren Will Dargus, Kaileen and Drayden Dargus, sisters Georgina McNaughton, Stratford, Gertrude Byatt, Stratford, brother-in-law Ken Tuckwood, NS, sisters-in-law Phyllis Tuckwood, BC, Lillian Boehm, Waterloo, Marie Bruder, Waterloo and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Augusta (Yundt) Harloff, both born in Ellice Township, brothers Clarence and Walter, brothers-in-law Matthew (White Rock, BC) and George (Baden), sisters-in-law Violet Tuckwood, Ada Stephenson (Port Stanley), and Jessie Van de Walker, (Oregon). A stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed sewing and knitting for her daughters, then found a new group to create for as the grandchildren came along.  But she found a new hobby when she received a crewel kit as a gift.  From that time, her passion for crewel work saw her decorate the family home and then her daughters’ homes with beautiful works of art that she painstakingly worked on, and she helped others to finish their works.  She enjoyed writing letters to her family, and grandchildren provided a reason for more letters and cards.  She could be found sitting on her verandah on beautiful days, watching the world go by, waving to all who passed and enjoying their company when they decided to join her for a sit-down, even to the end of her days. She’s now with her husband and parents who have waited patiently for her. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street., Stratford on Thursday August 21, 2014 from 1:00p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial  to follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Stratford-Perth Humane Society or the charity of one’s choice through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
