Stratford Police stop prohibited driver in Perth South

A 41-year-old Kitchener man has been charged after police say he was caught behind the wheel while being prohibited from driving.

Shortly after 8 o’clock Wednesday night, Stratford Police say they stopped a vehicle on Line 20 at Road 125 in Perth South for speeding.

They say the vehicle was observed driving 43km/h over the speed limit.

The driver was then identified as a Prohibited Driver under the Criminal Code and a Suspended Driver under the Highway Traffic Act.

The Criminal Code driving prohibitions included two for impaired driving, one for dangerous driving, and the fourth for driving while disqualified.

The first impaired driving prohibition dated back to 2003, while the Highway Traffic Act suspension, for unpaid fines, dated back to 2004.

The driver was placed under arrest and the vehicle was seized for 45 days.

He was later issued an Appearance Notice for the four Criminal Code driving prohibitions and was given two Part III Summonses for Suspend Drive, and Speeding.
