Vandersleen, Klaasje “Karen”

Klaasje “Karen” Vandersleen, age 86, formerly of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Country Meadows in Brunner. Born in Zuidwolde, The Netherlands, daughter of the late Christopher and Jacoba (Guichelaar) Otten. Klaasje was predeceased by her first husband Klaas Vandersleen (June 1987) and is survived by her second husband Martin Guichelaar. Proud mother of John (Connie), Carol (Jeff) Wilhelm, Judy Brouwers (Joel Yesalusky) and Rob (Patty Ferguson). Loving grandmother of Megan, Callyn, Courtney, Michael, Trevor (Ashleigh), Jodi (Curtis), Kaycee (Colin), Taylor (Gavin), Shania (Chad) and great grandson Dax. Klaasje will be fondly remembered by her siblings Martinus Otten (Margaret), Francis Timmermans (Peter), Anna Dunlop (Chuck), Arend Otten (Cherie), Anno Otten (Betty) and her sisters-in-law Mina Otten and Grace Vandersleen. The Vandersleen and Guichelaar families along with her many nieces, nephews and cousins will all have wonderful memories of Klaasje. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Country Meadows for the exceptional care and compassion given to their mother over the last four years, it is very much appreciated. Besides her parents and her husband, Klaasje was predeceased by her brother Klaas Otten. The family will celebrate their mother’s life with a private funeral service. Those attending the service must show proof of double vaccination and wear a face mask. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Canada or Canadian Lung Association through the W. G.
