St.Marys fire truck out of service after police say it was intentionally damaged

A St.Marys Fire Truck will be out of service for the near future after police say it was intentionally damaged.

Stratford Police say the incident happened shortly after 11 o’clock Saturday morning while firefighters were participating in water rescue training along the Thames River in St.Marys.

The truck was parked behind the carwash on Thomas Street and it was found with a broken window and dents to its body.

Police say it’s believed the truck was damaged by an unknown suspect who had thrown rocks at it.

St.Marys Fire Chief Richard Anderson tells MyStratfordNow.com they have tried to seal the window up and they have ordered a replacement on rush but it’s not known when it will arrive.

The truck carries a lot of life-saving equipment and Anderson says they’ve tried to transfer it to different trucks and they are making the best of it with no disruption in service.

Anyone with information on what happened is asked to call SPS or Crime Stoppers.
