Perth County OPP is warning to be careful what you share online.
A 15-year-old from West Perth has been a recent victim of a sextortion scam, as it has become to be known.
In this case, the victim shared intimate photos a year ago with a person she met online. The suspect recently shared the photos with the victims’ friends over a social media app and demanded money to remove them.
Perth County OPP reminds everyone to think twice before you hit send on personal information or images as you never know where they may appear again.
If someone starts demanding money or threatens you, never pay money, block them from all social media, screen shot the messages, and call your local police department.
