Personal fireworks allowed on Victoria Day, Canada Day in Stratford

As we gear up for the unofficial start to summer the City of Stratford is reminding you to be aware of the rules around fireworks in the city.

Personal fireworks displays are allowed on Victoria Day, which is Monday May 22nd, between 8:00 pm and midnight.

If the weather is rainy, foggy, or windy they can be set off the day before or after.

But you can’t light up fireworks on any city street or highway, park or public place, in a building or vehicle, or an area that has dead undergrowth or trees.

Firecrackers cannot be lit anywhere in the city and flying lanterns that look like small paper hot air balloons are not allowed for sale or use in Stratford.

The city is reminding residents of these safety rules:

  • Use fireworks outdoors only;
  • Choose a clear, open area;
  • Check wind direction and speed;
  • Always have an adult present;
  • Have water handy;
  • Read and follow label directions;
  • Keep spectators away from launch area

Fireworks will also be allowed on Canada Day, July 1st.
