Some fun activities coming up at the local humane society

It’s a chance to get out of the house post-Christmas and engage in some fun activities while supporting the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth.

Trisha Preston from Social Art is hosting a family-friendly kids paint event next Monday, Dec. 29. from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Stratford location on Griffith Road.

The local humane society will receive a portion of registration.

Cree Toner, community programs supervisor at the humane society’s Stratford site, said Preston will provide an opportunity to learn about art in an environment welcome to all.

“A really sweet painting that you and your little art lover can do either together or you can each do your own.”

You can register at socialart.ca.

In the new year, the local humane society’s critter club runs Thursdays from Jan. 15 until Jan. 29, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Kids ages six to nine can explore a little bit more about working with animals, including a lesson and activity while learning from a veterinarian or vet tech.

The last class is a teddy bear clinic, which Toner says is as cute and fun as it sounds.

Registration is available at the humane society website.
