Perth East says a new water treatment plant in Shakespeare will improve water services.
The township held a grand opening on Tuesday celebrating completion of the project.
Township staff said the new facility comes with advanced treatment technology, 350 metres of connected watermain and
a 345 cubic metre underground reservoir equipped with high-lift and fire pumps.
A total of more than $1.06 million was invested into the project from the federal and provincial governments.
Mayor Rhonda Ehgoetz said infrastructure projects are among the most important investments a municipality can make.
The plant will ensure the community continues to receive safe and reliable drinking water, Ehgoetz adds, while supporting future growth and development.
