The Local Community Food Centre have Perth County paramedics to thank for a sizeable donation to the organization.
A $2,500 boost will help support the centre’s efforts to solve local food insecurity.
The Paramedic Services’ Mobile Integrated Health Team (MIH) have built a relationship with the centre.
The county said the team hosts clinics in the region to support vulnerable people on a weekly basis. The centre provides meals, fresh fruit and cookies.
MIH Deputy Chief Debbie Hunter said it became clear that distributing food was an important way to connect with people.
“The whole paramedic team is thrilled to be able to support The Local so we are able to continue providing this service to our community.”
Centre Community Connector Julie Docker Johnson said they are grateful for the donation.
The county added the donation came through the Paramedic Services’ Community Care Fund, which allows community members to support local paramedics.
