United Way fundraising campaign enters the stretch run

With less than a month to go, United Way Perth-Huron has reached 92 per cent of its 2025-2026 fundraising campaign goal.

Co-chairs John Wolfe and Kirsten Sainsbury say the campaign has brought in more than $2.3 million, and they are hoping the community can push for a strong finish.

“We’ve got until the end of the month and we would love for everyone to help out because this does address our important local issues including poverty reduction, housing and mental health and well-being.”

Wolfe adds hitting financial goals ensure the local United Way can provide all of their services to the community.

The fundraising campaign got a big boost from last Saturday’s Coldest Night of the Year walk around the Avon River. Teams raised more than $228,000 locally for Shelterlink Youth Services and Stratford Connection Centre.

“Just goes to show the community we have here and the people that step up.”
A Coldest Night of the Year walk in St. Marys raised $54,000, which will support the Nourish Market and St. Marys community outreach.

Walks in the region covered by United Way Perth-Huron have raised $558,000.
