St. Marys organizations are getting a big boost in funding after a successful Coldest Night of the Year walk.
The St. Marys Community Outreach Worker program and the Nourish Equal Access Food Market are benefitting after 29 teams raised $54,563.
According to United Way Perth-Huron, the outreach worker supports struggling residents, including those living in and around social housing by understanding their challenges and connecting to services.
The nourish market offers fresh, locally-sourced produce and meats bi-weekly to the community.
St. Marys CNOY organizing committee member Gwen Bradley said they appreciate all volunteers, walkers and donors for showing how big-hearted the town is.
“It’s inspiring to see so many people stepping up to help people in our community who are vulnerable and need our support and care,” said Bradley.
Better Together St. Marys raised the most funds out of all the teams with $6,120.89, while Lucas Ryan brought in $5,025, the most out of any individual.
Donations are still rolling in, and are still accepted until March 31.
