It’s the perfect time for United Way Perth-Huron to thank their many volunteers.
National Volunteer Week started Sunday and runs until Saturday.
The local organization says it’s a time to ‘recognize and thank the many volunteers who give their time and energy to strengthen local communities.’
Many people support United Way through their volunteering efforts, the organization says, and make it possible for essential services to operate, community events to thrive, and neighbours to access the help they need.
Executive Director Ryan Erb said volunteers are impactful in a variety of ways, including helping with events, inspiring colleagues in their workplaces to give and sitting on boards and committees.
At its recent Spirit of Community Celebration, the local United Way recognized a group of dedicated volunteers from across Perth-Huron who did amazing work in their communities: Ellen Barnett, Beth Blowes, Gwen Bradley, Sarah Bussey, Sally Desjardine, Karen Dickins, Patti Fievoli, Bernice Glenn, Wendy Hutton, Andrea Loohuizen, Nick Skinner, Tom Soltys, Terri Sparling and Denise Winger.
Erb said the volunteer award winners made a positive impact on the organization and the places they call home.
