‘Raw, local and meaningful’ hip-hop show will focus on mental health and recovery

An upcoming hip hop show will let people know they are not alone in their struggles with mental health.

Headliner 519Wayward said a group of ‘talented artists’ will be on stage for Never Alone May 8 at the IMPACT Lounge on Ontario Street.

All of the music is rooted in lived experiences of addiction, recovery and mental health.

“It’s mostly about how you can reach out anytime. My slogan is never alone. We see everyday far too many people dying in the streets whether it’s from overdose or mental health,” said the headliner.

519Wayward, a Stratford resident, said he has overcome addiction to heroin, cocaine and alcohol.

“I smoke cigarettes and weed now.”

Promotor Robert Smith said the message is consistent across the lineup and the show is something raw, local, and meaningful that often goes unseen.

Tickets for the show are available on Eventbrite.
