Free legal services are expanding to more parts of Perth County to help out seniors.
In a media release, the Town of St. Marys said the Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic has increased access to these services to their community, Perth South, and the surrounding area.
Officials said this change aims to help eligible low-income seniors get legal advice and education on common issues that affect them. These issues include income supports, age-related discrimination, and legal rules for getting homecare.
The Town added that caregivers and professionals may also benefit from the educational sessions.
Based in Stratford, the clinic offers one-on-one legal assistance, public presentations and information sessions on seniors legal issues.
The expansion is funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario, a Toronto-based organization that hands out millions of dollars each year to grants, class actions, and Legal Aid Ontario to advance access to justice in the province.
