It’s about to get cooler at the Stratford Connection Centre.
United Way Perth-Huron is funding a new air conditioner at the centre to improve comfort.
CEO Ryan Erb said when temperatures go up outside, people head into the centre to beat the heat.
“Without air conditioning, the space would become hot, humid and uncomfortable. The air would feel heavy and stagnant, making it more difficult for people to rest, connect with supports and focus on their next steps.”
United Way officials say for staff, the lack of cooling creates challenges in their work supporting vulnerable residents.
The installing of the air conditioning unit is part of United Way’s ongoing work of ensuring vulnerable residents have access to safe, effective and compassionate supports.
