The Stratford Kidney Walk is near and dear to Harjinder Nijjar and his family.
“My brother did receive a kidney, then he received a second one, however he passed away in March of 2016,” Nijjar told MyStratfordNow.
He said they’ve participated in the walk for many years, and the family tries to get together to support the cause.
Nijjar said people taking part in the walk find out they aren’t the only ones affected by kidney disease.
“There’s so many within the city that’s affected by this, and that allows you to have more of a support group as well, somebody to reach out to if needed.”
The walk is taking place on Saturday at Upper Queens Park.
Organizer Leigh-Anne Quinn said they’re hoping to raise $11,000 to support those affected by the disease.
You can register online or in-person on the day of the event at 9 a.m.
