A new exhibit will touch on what is lost and displaced as rural and near-urban landscapes are quickly transformed.
Developed by Common Collective, if you lived here, you’d be home by now, premiers at Gallery Stratford on Saturday night.
Staff say the exhibit is a multi-media installation that focuses on Ontario’s housing shortage, protecting the environment and tensions between farmland and urban development.
It is a combination of documentary video, sound, projection mapping, sculpture and animation.
Gallery Stratford Director and Curator Robert Windrum described it as engaging and interesting.
“It is political and social but not in a didactic or aggressive way.”
He said the point of the exhibit is to start conversations around these topics amongst community members.
Comprised of the Simon Brothers (Stratford), Jeremy Cox (Stratford), Nick Kuepfer (Montreal) and Luke Mistruzzi (Ottawa), Common Collective make multi-media installations that explore how people share the land and how changes affect the places people live in.
The exhibit runs until Jan. 10. Saturday’s opening runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
